Professor Bonnie Rock-McCutcheon
I attended college at The College of New Jersey, in Ewing, NJ, where I majored in History and minored in Classical Studies. I then moved to Columbus, OH, where I earned an MA in Ancient History at the Ohio State University. I am currently working on my dissertation, an analysis of the role played by religious sponsorship in the construction of the political power of tyrants in the Greek Archaic Period.
I have taught at Wilson College for the past five years; my classes taught include HIS 110 Ancient Mediterranean World, HIS 270 History of the Crusades, CLS 120 Classical Mythology, CLS 128 Introduction to Archaeology, CLS 104 Scientific and Medical Terminology from Greek and Latin Roots, CLS 215 Women in Antiquity, CLS 270 Governments of the Ancient World, and HIS 270 Representations of Antiquity.
In my free time, I enjoy quilting (especially hand applique) and other crafty endeavors, reading novels, and playing with my two cats, Zeke (4 years old) and Mac (six months old). The cats keep me on my toes! Mac particularly enjoys carrying granola bar wrappers around the house and playing in the bathtub (yes, he's a weird kitten). Zeke mostly stares at Mac with a "WTF Dude?" expression on his face. I also volunteer with the Girl Scouts in Gettysburg, and am an active member of the Lions Club in Gettysburg.
